Nulamizik Festival is back with a star-studded festival featuring a line-up of top artists to bring you one of the biggest live concerts on the island at the Green Village on Saturday, 5 December 2020.

The second edition of Nulamizik Festival continues to focus on local artists with live performances and exhibitions. The idea is to support and promote the richness of local music and to highlight the artists of the moment as well as to support NGOs.

For this second edition, expect Original Blakkayo, Zulu, Mr Love, Otentik Groove, Jason Heerah, Linzy Bacbotte, Bigg Frankii, Madii Madii, Natty Gong and LP who promise an electric night with spectacular performances.

About the Artists - Nulamizik Festival 2

Original Blakkayo
He started out as a dancer in the 90s and was inevitably attracted to music and reggae in particular. Inspired by Kaya, the inventor of seggae, Blakkayo started writing his own music and went on to release his first solo album Tchek To Life in 2000 which got enormous success. The following year, the musician and his group, which later became known as Otentikk Street Brothers (OSB CREW) released an album Nou Kila as a heartfelt tribute to Kaya.

Zulu
Founder of the band System R in 1999, the songwriter, composer and performer of the group makes a first solo attempt with his album 'Soldat de l’amour,' which propels him among the best sellers (more than 10,000 CDs) in 2012.

The remarkable artist juggles several styles of music, including RnB, Soul, Reggae, Dancehall, Seggae, Zouk, Reggaeton, and of course Sega. His songs have a distinctive sound and captivating melodies as well as striking lyrics.

Mr Love
Son of artist Jean-François Antoinette, Tey grew up surrounded by music. He started his career in 2008 by joining a group with his cousins "XV Balles Hood", as a rapper under the name of Youth. It was in 2014 that he decided to go solo and was quickly spotted on social media. His first single A ses côtés was a fresh sound with pop-reggae tunes, followed by many other hit songs including Perdi Ou Leker ft. Cindia Amerally which amassed 3.6M views on Youtube.

Jason Heerah
Named as "The best singing drummer in the world" by the 2014 Australian X Factor Judging panel, where he finished in the Top 6. His rendition of Pharrell Williams smash hit 'Happy' at the X-Factor Audition 2014 has had over 1 million views on Youtube. His Single 'Seggae Paradise' featuring Zulu released in Mauritius in 2015, has been nominated for song of the year.

Jason has shared the stage alongside various international artists and built up a rapport over the years as being one of the most regularly featured drummer or percussionist/vocalists for an array of concerts and music festivals.

Linzy Bacbotte
Linzy uses her artistic talent in the social sector, participating in the fight against AIDS and defending the rights of women and children. Her participation with OSB Crew at the Sauti Za Busara Festival, Zanzibar (2011), or as a soloist, at the Theatre of St Gilles (Reunion Island), in 2012, paved the way to new opportunities. Linzy is also known in the musical scene with her performance in West Side Story in 2012.

In 2015, she participated in the show Li Té Vé Vwar with a French and Reunion team and toured the Indian Ocean. She also played the main character of Sister Act, a musical comedy which was a great success in Mauritius.

Bigg Frankii
A very prolific singer, Bigg Frankii, whose real name is Franco Georgin, has millions of views on the platforms where his songs and videos are offered to his fans. This Roche Bois singer enjoys a star status with the new generation where Picoti Picota, Tic Tac, My one in a million are essential hits.

Success stories and hits, Bigg Frankii counts many of them among the collection of songs and videos he has recorded and put online over the last four years. Franco Georgin is a workaholic and a joyful music lover who takes pleasure in creating new music.

Natty Gong
Benoît Girodeau, better known as Natty Gong was influenced very early by Seggae Music as well as the discovery of Bob Marley and a lot of Jamaican Dancehall singers. Natty Gong's Welkom dan Moris and Latet, were greatly appreciated by those in the reggae and dancehall world, and he has gone on to conquer the local stages by playing at popular music festivals and events.

LP
Taking in influences from all corners, LP's passion is DJing in all its forms. Lp's set covers all genres from deep, sexy, latin, afro, funky and soulful flavours, to create a signature sound that has seen him take on all the major clubs and bars in Australia & Mauritius.

Just like last time, free stands will be provided to local artisans so that they may exhibit and sell their products. Nulamizik has again partnered with Moka’mwad and SD Worx both engaging to help the homeless people of Mauritius through this event. Part of the sales of tickets will go directly to these funds as support, so book your tickets now and support this cause!
